The Toyota brand is always pursuing ways to both improve upon their own vehicles and to improve the auto industry as a whole. Their dedication to both driving and environmental performance has led them to the forefront of innovation within the industry, which includes a laundry list of innovative Toyota parts that have changed the game.

So it comes as no surprise to see that the automaker has a structural reform platform called Toyota New Global Architecture (TNGA) that is dedicated to making the best vehicles. The TNGA has recently developed new engines and transmissions meant to further reduce fuel consumption and CO2 emissions. These powertrain developments are meant for their hybrid vehicle systems and should be deployed in 2017.

Furthermore, beyond the environmental impact, these developments are meant to improve the overall driving performance of the vehicles in which they are featured. The new powertrain units provide roughly 10 percent better power performance and have impacted such things as the aerodynamics and overall build of the car.

For instance, weight reduction in the overall body paired with the new powertrain lends itself to better economy and performance, which is exactly what is happening with these new builds. Toyota representatives have said that by the end of 2021, they plan to introduce 17 different versions of nine engines. Included in that, is the announcement of the 2.5-liter DI Inline four-cylinder engine that’s a part of the aforementioned recent TNGA developments.
