Burgers are like Toyotas. They’re both beloved American traditions. They’re popular, reliable, and a good value. Also, like adding options and choosing the right trim, you can build a burger any way you want. Have it simple or fancy. What a person drives and what they eat are two powerful forms of expression. What’s on your perfect burger?

Fortunately, we have many great burger options near Keith Pierson Toyota in Jacksonville. The best ones are certainly worth driving for. Besides, taking a spin in the Supra is good for the appetite. If you have a bunch of hungry passengers, load them in the Sienna and hit the road. Feed them all at one of these Northern Florida burger spots.

Four words stand out from their webpage: “Burgers. Fries. Shakes. Beer.” They take those four food groups and execute them to creative perfection. It was opened in 2013 by a husband and wife team with culinary education and Las Vegas experience. One of their many award winning items is the Epikurean Burger, which includes a Maytag bleu cheese-truffle mousse, pancetta, mushrooms, and a blackberry-beef demi glace.

While an obvious carnivore’s delight, Epik also features nine vegetarian or vegan burgers plus vegan “Meat” balls. Milkshakes come both traditional and wild. Try the Southern Banana Pudding, Cinnamon Dolce or Elvis with banana, peanut butter, and bacon. You can also get vegan shakes with almond milk gelato.

The French Pantry

This bakery and cafe established in 1995 doesn’t look like a burger joint. They made their name producing breads and pastries so popular they supply many other restaurants in Northeast Florida. The start and stop of every burger is the bun, and you know you’re getting a good one from a French bakery. Everything inside is created with the same gourmet pride The French Pantry takes with every item. Choose the simply named “Cheeseburger and Fries” for a top quality patty with cheddar, onion, tomato, mayo, mustard, and spring mix. Get bolder with the Texas Burger, featuring roasted poblanos, guacamole, pico de gallo, and Monterey jack. Make sure to grab some eclairs for the drive home.

Ted’s Montana Grill

Over their 40 restaurants in 16 states, Ted’s serves more bison than any other restaurant in the world. They are never given hormones or steroids. Appreciate its flavor undistracted by ordering the Naked Burger. It needs nothing but a bun. Or dive into the big flavors of the Red Rock, adorned with pepper jack, jalapeno, cilantro, onion straws, and the secret Z-Sauce.

Picasso’s

This Mandarin neighborhood favorite is known for a brilliantly broad menu featuring pizza, bread pudding, gumbo, and more. They describe their restaurant as “where food is art.” Burgers can be art, too, and they don’t disappoint. Plainly labeled at the bottom of the sandwich menu is the “Cheeseburger.” It’s a beautiful expression of hand-ground beef, lettuce, tomato, onion, and proprietary Pablo sauce. Try it with their Eggplant Chips instead of fries.
