Even if you’ve lived in Jacksonville, Florida, for a while, we guarantee there are some unique neighborhood stores you may not have discovered just yet. At Keith Pierson Toyota, we love sharing our finds with our customers and neighbors in Florida, so whether you want a spot to purchase a unique gift for a special someone or just an offbeat store you can explore, the following list has a range of cool local shops in Jacksonville that are sure to intrigue you.
Sweet Pete’s Candy Shop
If you have a sweet tooth and want some treats, look no further than Sweet Pete’s Candy Shop. The store is actually a full-on restaurant in addition to a candy shop, so you can stop by to grab some desserts, chocolates, retro candy, themed candy, or craft sodas, or you can sit down and enjoy a lovely lunch — or brunch on weekends.
For those who have always wanted to try their hand at making their own candy, Sweet Pete’s offers classes where you can make your own delicious treats. Candy lovers with dietary restrictions will also find a wide range of vegan treats. Hop on by and check out the huge selection this store has to offer.
Southern Crossing
Antique hunters need to explore the 5,000 square feet of vintage items and antique finds on display at Southern Crossing. Anything you can think of, Southern Crossing probably has in store. Musical items and records? Knick knacks? Furniture? Wind chimes and outdoor decor? Art? Glassware? There are more antiques here than anywhere else in the Jacksonville area. Who knows? You may find a valuable treasure or a gorgeous, unique accent piece to add to your home.
Gloss Goods
Customers who like to indulge a little and are serious about their self-care and beauty regimen will absolutely love the charming Gloss Goods store. Part apothecary, part cosmetic and jewelry shop, the store tends to stray away from the big-name brands and offers visitors unique, boutique brands of makeup, creams and oils, bath items, jewelry, and other assorted items you may have a hard time finding anywhere else.
The minimalist brick interior with its carefully laid out displays and pink neon lights add to the charm of shopping at Gloss Goods, as do the friendly owner and people who work here.
Wolfgang Clothing
Wolfgang Clothing is an independent boutique clothing store in the famous 5 Points area of Jacksonville. It’s a great stop to add to your list when you’re walking around the Riverside neighborhood. The shop sells clothing for men and women, with plenty of accessories also available, such as bags, wallets, and sunglasses. Stop by Wolfgang and spend an afternoon browsing the eclectic collection of clothes, then pick up something truly unique that you can almost be sure no one else around you’ll be wearing.
Eco Relic
Eco-minded Jacksonville residents love the special, environmentally friendly store called Eco Relic on Stockton Street. The store goes by the mantra “Reuse, Recycle, Repurpose,” and the selection of items it offers lives up to that.
The shop specializes in new and reclaimed building materials, making sure surplus items left over from local construction don’t go to waste. This includes lumber, hardwood lumber, mouldings and trims, and flooring, as well as specialty items, such as salved doors, antique windows, ironwork, and electrical equipment. If you need any kind of props for a photo shoot, themed party, or local play, Eco Relic also has you covered. Browse their selection of one-of-a-kind, vintage props to add something truly special to your home decor, or host the best themed party of all time.
Riverside Arts Market
The Saturday Riverside Arts Market has quickly become a Jacksonville staple, with locals and visitors stopping by to see what the market is offering each week. Known locally as RAM, the market takes place under the Fuller Warren Bridge in the Riverside area from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., regardless of what the weather forecast may say.
If you shop at Riverside Arts Market, not only are you sure to find unique collectibles, but you’ll also be supporting local Jacksonville businesses. Farmers, artists, bakers, and other craftsmen come here to sell the amazing products they’ve grown, made, and cooked. In addition to shopping, you’ll get to enjoy live music and delicious snacks from the food vendors on the premises. Family-friendly and dog-friendly, RAM is a great weekend outing for the whole family.
Grater Goods
There’s no better spot in Jacksonville for cheese lovers than Grater Goods. Known as the only stand-alone cheese shop in the entire city, you’ll find an absolutely mind-boggling variety of cheeses here. Get boxes, boards, or samples of cheeses from all over the world, hard and soft, white and yellow and blue, and everything in between.
Some recommended specials you can sample and bring home include Double Dutch Gouda, Le Napoleon, and Rogue River. The store is closed on Sundays and Mondays.
Wolf & Cub
Located in downtown Jacksonville, Wolf & Cub prides itself on offering independently produced clothing and home goods of high quality to its customers. The items you find here are unique, cool, and unlikely to be found anywhere else. Browse through the store’s jewelry, vintage items, hand-screen printed clothing, and other clothes and accessories for both men and women to see what speaks to you.
If you want to order something completely customized for you, you can put in a request for a custom T-shirt or floral arrangement to beautify your home or office space. Even if you’re not looking for anything in particular, Wolf & Cub is the kind of store you can walk into just to browse and look around and then leave with a whole host of items you absolutely love.
We love exploring the special stores and establishments of Jacksonville in our spare time. If you have a great shop in the city that you love, please contact us at Keith Pierson Toyota and let us know, as we’d love to feature it in a future post.
