The Jax Ale Trail is a collection of local breweries in the Jacksonville, Florida, area that produce distinctive craft beers. If you’re looking for a great way to discover new brews, this trail will make all your efforts easier. Though a few of the breweries are within walking distance of one another, most require some driving. You can’t tackle the trail in a day, but you can use it as a guide for your adventures over the course of a longer period of time.

The Jax Ale Trail Passport

The Jax Ale Trail Passport is your guide to all the participating breweries on the trail. You can pick up your passport at the Jacksonville Visitors Center in downtown Jacksonville at 100 North Laura St., Suite 120. Each brewery on the trail has its own stamp. Collect stamps as you visit locations on the Ale Trail to track your progress and collect prizes. Four stamps will earn you a free beer koozie. With eight stamps, you’ll get a Jax Ale Trail t-shirt. Collecting 22 stamps earns you a secret prize.

The Jax Ale Trail features over two dozen breweries. Here are some of the highlights of these destinations:

Strings Sports Brewery

This family-friendly brewery features an assortment of games and meals. Visit for employee-created burgers on Mondays, Taco Tuesdays, or a select food and beer pairing on Thursdays.

Location: 1850 N. Main St., Jacksonville

Hours: 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday

Aardwolf Brewing Company

Aardwolf serves hard seltzers, barley wines, pilsners, stouts, IPAs, lagers, and more. You’ll find food trucks outside to complement your brews.

Location: 1461 Hendricks Ave., Jacksonville

Hours: 3 to 11 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday, 3 p.m. to midnight on Friday, noon to midnight on Saturday, and noon to 9 p.m. on Sunday

Hyperion Brewing Company

Hyperion Brewing takes a rebellious approach to beer. You can become a rebel yourself with the Helios Brewer’s Experience that lets you play brewmaster and create your own special recipe.

Intuition Ale Works has live music, an in-house restaurant, and a family-friendly atmosphere. This is a great one-stop shop for entertainment and brews.

Fishweir Brewing Company

Try a flight at Fishweir Brewing for a sampling of any four brews. You’ll find sours, sparkling ales, stouts, blondes, and more. Don’t miss distinctive small-batch flavors like blueberry hibiscus tea ale or chocolate orange stout.

Southern Swells Brewing Company

The punchy Karate in the Garage IPA is the flagship brew of Southern Swells. You can catch other intriguing options on taps like Swelltzer mango hard seltzer and Spicy Cukes sour ale with cucumber and jalapeño flavors.

Legacy Ale Works

Legacy Ale Works offers a variety of events like live music, pop-up markets, and beer pairing dinners. Order dinner from Casa Maria and have it delivered to the bar.

Wicked Barley Brewing Company

Wicked Barley’s property includes a pet-friendly beer garden, full-service restaurant, and taproom. There’s even a kayak launch and boat dock so you can arrive for the fun by the water.

Ink Factory Brewing

Ink Factory Brewery combines the delights of a taproom and espresso bar in a warehouse formerly used for magazine publishing.

Bold City Brewery

Bold City has two Jacksonville locations. The company produces five core beers and a wide range of specialty brews. Lite bites are available downtown, while the production taproom offers a more extensive menu.
