They both possess a stylish exterior, a comfortable interior, and the power and performance that make driving fun. Yet, they do have their differences. The Corolla features a front fascia full of sharp lines, a honeycomb grille, and a bulging hood that give it an aggressive stare. Its sculpted sides, low stance, and 18-inch wheels in various styles reveal an athletic posture. Exterior paint options include 16 colors with a single or two-tone pattern. LED headlights, daytime running lights, and taillights allow you to see and be seen. Special editions like the Apex and Nightshade deliver unique styles.

You get several grille designs on the slightly larger Camry ranging from the honeycomb to the dark gray with chrome accents. A chiseled hood speaks to the strength underneath, and the Camry’s sleek bodyside contours, low center of gravity, and 19-inch wheels give the Camry a bold profile that looks ready for anything. Thirteen available colors with two-tone patterns provide options to match your style.

Interior Comfort

You don’t just sink into the comfortable interior of the Corolla. It envelops you with a luxurious feel. The seats and controls were ergonomically designed and thoughtfully placed to provide a more thrilling drive and riding experience. The mixed-media seats with available SofTex-trimmed bolsters and premium cloth inserts deliver style and comfort.

An available leather-wrapped steering wheel adds a refined feel for the driver. A one-touch power moonroof opens up the already spacious cabin, letting in plenty of light, air, and views for the whole cabin. Other premium features like piano-black accents and soft-touch materials on the doors and dash add elevated style to this compact sedan.

Inside the Camry, Toyota created space for you and your passengers to enjoy, with expansive open views, cavernous space, and a driver-focused cockpit. All your controls are intuitively placed within easy reach, from the steering wheel to the infotainment screen. A 10-inch color head-up display projects critical driving data to the windshield above the steering wheel. You can opt for the cold weather package that adds heated seats, steering wheel, and side-view mirrors to combat those chilly days.

Seating materials range from premium cloth to SofTex to premium leather in various colors and styles. Available ventilated seats for the front and heated seats for the rear add even more comfort.

Powerful Engines

The Corolla has two engines to choose between. First up is a 1.8-liter four-cylinder with dual overhead cams and 16 valves with Valvematic technology. When paired with Toyota’s continuously variable transmission, this powertrain puts out 139 horsepower and 126 pound-feet of torque. Or, you can upgrade to the 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with dual overhead cams and 16 valves with dual variable valve timing with intelligence technology. Toyota pairs this engine with the same transmission to deliver 169 horsepower and 151 pound-feet of torque.

An available hybrid powertrain uses a 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine that mates to an electronically controlled continuously variable transmission. This powertrain gives you 121 horsepower and 105 pound-feet of torque.

The Camry also offers two gas engines and a hybrid powertrain. Camry’s base model comes with a 2.5-liter Dynamic Force four-cylinder engine with dual overhead cams, 16 valves with D-4S fuel injection, and dual variable valve timing technology. Toyota pairs this engine with a continuously variable transmission resulting in 206 horsepower and 186 pound-feet of torque.

A powerful 3.5-liter V-6 engine comes with the upper trims. This engine has dual overhead cams, 24 valves with D-4S dual injection, and variable valve timing technology. Toyota pairs this engine with their Direct Shift 8AT eight-speed automatic transmission to deliver 301 horsepower and 267 pound-feet of torque. The Camry’s hybrid powertrain puts out 208 total system horsepower using the 2.5-liter four-cylinder and an 88-kW electric motor.

In-Vehicle Technology

When it comes to in-vehicle technology, the Corolla and Camry share many of the same capabilities. The infotainment screen on the Corolla measures 8 inches, while the Camry offers a 9-inch touch screen. Both vehicles feature Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support. You can sync your smartphones for hands-free operation, access navigation information, stream your favorite music, and make calls using simple, intuitive voice commands.

They both have an 800-watt, nine-speaker JBL premium audio system standard on the upper trims, but the Camry features a Qi-compatible wireless phone charger that the Corolla only offers as part of a package option. Both vehicles also come equipped with a free trial subscription to SiriusXM satellite radio. They also offer Bluetooth streaming technology and can turn into a 4G LTE Wi-Fi hot spot. Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant functionality allow you to remotely start your Corolla or Camry from the comfort of your living room.

Toyota Driver-Assist Systems

The Corolla operates under the Toyota Safety Sense 2.0, while the Camry uses the next-generation Toyota Safety Sense 2.5 (TSS 2.5) package. They both include pre-collision with pedestrian detection, dynamic radar cruise control, lane departure alert with steering assist, lane tracing assist, and the convenient road sign assist that recognizes and projects common road signs to your driver information display. The Camry offers a blind-spot monitor with a rear cross-path detection system that the Corolla doesn’t.

When comparing the Corolla and Camry, you see so many similarities. Both offer comfortable interiors loaded with the latest tech and safety systems. The Camry runs with the midsize sedans and therefore has more interior space, but the Corolla’s open design doesn’t make you feel cramped. Both offer stylish exteriors with sporty expressions, although the Camry does have a more impressive powertrain.
