Nobody likes getting a flat tire, but unfortunately, some of us might not know how to get it taken care of. So today, Keith Pierson Toyota wants to show our Jacksonville, FL customers how to change a flat tire and let them know what we can do for them before, during, and after the event.

If you end up getting a flat while driving, the first thing to do is to remain calm and in control of the vehicle. Reduce your speed and try to find a place you can get to quickly with little traffic, so you can begin the repair. Use the tire iron in the spare kit to loosen the tire’s lug nuts, and then remove them by hand. Use the jack in the spare kit to raise the vehicle’s frame so you can get the wheel out and put the spare tire on. Once in place, hand-tighten the lug nuts to get them into place, then drop the jack. You can then use the tire iron to secure the lug nuts on the wheel, and you should be good to go.

We recommend that once your spare is fixed, you come into the Keith Pierson Toyota Service Center. Our team of trained professionals will provide you with a full-size tire or wheel (if it was damaged) and also take a look at your vehicle in case there is any damage to your vehicle’s body. Once we’ve taken care of your new tire, remember to always schedule your used or new Toyota vehicle for regular maintenance to keep it in top shape. Be safe out there, and take care!
