What’s on your perfect burger?

Fortunately, we have many great burger options near Keith Pierson Toyota in Jacksonville. The best ones are certainly worth driving for. Besides, taking a spin in the Supra is good for the appetite. Finance Tips

Jul 14, 2021

Financing a car can cost you thousands of dollars more than buying a vehicle for cash. However, that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t finance. Financing can be the best way to go for several reasons — but only if you understand how to finance a car the right way. That’s why we’ve created the following tips to help you navigate the financing process without making some of the typical mistakes others have made.

Check Your Credit Score

Image via Flickr by free pictures of money

Image via Flickr by free pictures of money

Potential buyers should always check their credit scores before beginning to shop. Why? Because your credit score impacts your car loan more than any other factor. The higher the credit score, the lower the interest rate you’ll qualify for when you apply for a car loan. Conversely, the lower the credit score, the higher the interest rate you’ll end up with on your loan.

Credit experts recommend fixing any credit issues before applying for a loan. In many cases, people can improve their credit score without too much effort or even money. A decrease from 7% to 5% APR on a $20,000 five-year loan can save you over $1,100.

Get Competing Loan Offers

Before arriving at a dealership, we recommend shopping for car loans with several institutions. You can start with your bank or credit union, as these institutions typically offer existing customers discounted rates. You can shop around at other local banks to see what they offer, too. We also recommend searching online for some national lenders. Sometimes, national companies are able to offer better rates than smaller, regional banks because they benefit from a higher volume of loan customers. After shopping around, you can use our online finance application to get pre-approved for an auto loan as a comparison.

When comparing loans, you want to look first at your interest rate and then at the length of the loan. You might qualify for a 5% interest rate with one lender and 7% with another, but if the length of the 5% loan runs two years longer than the 7% loan, you’ll pay more in interest over the life of the 5% loan.

Figure Out Your Budget

Ultimately, your monthly loan payment must fit within your budget. We recommend a thorough examination of your monthly income and expenses to determine how much you can afford to spend each month on your loan. You also need to factor in your car insurance costs. Many lenders require additional insurance like gap insurance and collision coverage to protect them against a total loss of the vehicle. These insurance policies cost more money, and if you haven’t had them on previous plans, you can expect to pay $100 or more each month.

Determine What You Need in a Car

Now that you’ve fixed your credit, found competing loans, and planned out your budget, the fun of actually shopping for a car can begin. Before you set foot on a dealership’s lot, take the time to make a list of the features you need in a car, truck, or SUV. Say you commute to Jacksonville every day. In that case, you’ll need something fuel-efficient and safe. If your job requires you to bring tools, equipment, and supplies to work each day, you probably need a pickup.

You can make a second list of features you’d like to have but can live without. Maybe some of the latest driver-assist features like adaptive cruise control would be nice, but if you only occasionally get on the highway, you probably could do without them.

A third list — perhaps the most helpful of all — should contain all those features you don’t need or want. This third list will help you avoid paying for bells and whistles you don’t care about. For instance, a four-wheel-drive truck can be a lot of fun for those off-road adventurers, but if you never go off the road, why pay extra money for that feature?

Money Down

If you have at least a portion of the money needed to purchase a car, you should put as much of that as you can afford toward a down payment. Putting money down will lower the amount you have to borrow and ultimately reduce the amount of interest you pay over the life of the loan. A down payment will lower your monthly payment as well.

The only time you don’t want to spend your money for some or all of a car purchase would be if you could earn more in a savings or investment account instead. If a dealership gives you a zero-percent interest rate, there’s no need to put extra money down. You can earn 1-2% interest in most savings accounts. Suppose you have a stock portfolio that returns 7% annually, and you qualify for a 5% interest rate. In that case, you’re better off keeping your money in the stock portfolio rather than using it as a down payment because you’ll net 2% profit by keeping there.

Keep the Loan Term as Short as Possible

Keeping the loan term short will save you money in the long run. However, there’s a trade-off here that involves your monthly payment increasing or perhaps the need for a higher down payment. Buyers must strike a balance between loan length and monthly affordability. At Keith Pierson Toyota, our finance department experts have years of experience finding the correct loan terms to fit any financial situation.

A shorter loan will help you avoid getting upside down on your loan. Being upside-down refers to owing more than the actual value of your car, and it happens far more often than you might think. Insurance costs more when you’re upside down, too, so you should avoid it if you can.

At Keith Pierson Toyota, we know finding the right financing package can be the difference between buying the car of your dreams or settling for something less. That’s why our finance team has cultivated so many relationships with local and national lenders. We leverage these relationships every day to find our customers the best rates and terms possible.

We don’t want to sell you a car you can’t afford. We want you to enjoy an experience that fits your needs and budget — one you’ll want to repeat and recommend to your friends and family. We invite you to explore our loan options online or come sit down with one of our friendly, knowledgeable finance team members to discuss your situation. No matter what financial concerns you have, our team can find you a loan that makes sense.

A battery provides the power needed to start your car. Therefore, it’s essential to have one that’s in good condition. Auto batteries have a lifespan of about three to five years, so everyone is likely to experience a failing battery at some point. Luckily, there are some warning signs you can look out for to tell if a battery needs replacing.

Signs That Your Battery Needs Replacing

Image via Flickr by crash71100

Image via Flickr by crash71100

One of the first indicators of a weak battery is an engine that takes some time to start. Under normal conditions, the battery provides power to start your engine as soon as you turn the ignition or press the push-button start. But when a battery starts to deteriorate, it struggles to hold enough charge, causing your starter to take a few seconds to get the engine going.

Another warning sign is if your headlights dim significantly when you start your car before lighting up as normal when the engine starts. The reason for this could be that your battery isn’t retaining enough charge to power your vehicle’s accessories.

You can also perform a visual inspection of your battery to check its health. Batteries in poor condition may develop a film on top or corrosion on its ports. Corrosion typically appears as a white or yellow substance, and occurs because the acid in the battery is escaping. You can wash off the corrosion using a battery brush temporarily, but it is still a good idea to get your battery checked out to make sure it’s still ok.

If your battery is dying, you may here a clicking sound when you try to start your car. This usually suggests that your battery has lost all its charge and can no longer start your engine. While it may be possible for you to jump start your car in an emergency, you should immediately get your battery changed to avoid future problems.

Keep in mind that batteries don’t perform well if your vehicle has been sitting unused for a long period of time. For example, if you haven’t driven your car in a month and it takes a few seconds to start up, this may not necessarily mean that your battery is dying.

How to Test a Battery

One of the simplest ways to test your battery is to use a multimeter. First, check that your multimeter is set between 15 and 20 volts. Then, place the negative and positive connectors on the corresponding ports on your battery. Check the multimeter’s screen to get the reading.

If the reading is below 12.5 volts, you should probably charge your battery. Any reading below 12 volts is an indication that your battery is very weak and that it may be time for a replacement.

If you don’t have a multimeter, you can test your battery by switching on your headlights without turning on the Engine. Leave your headlights on for 15 minutes, then try to start your car. If your engine won’t start, this shows that your battery can’t retain a charge and requires replacement.

Replacing Your Battery

While you may be concerned about the cost of replacing your battery, the good news is that you can get a high quality battery for a modest price. The exact cost will vary depending on the requirements of your vehicle, but most batteries are generally priced between $50 and $150. Premium batteries can cost significantly more but are not required for most vehicles.

The main thing to keep in mind when choosing a new battery is to check the specifications of your old one to ensure that you purchase an appropriate battery for your car. Firstly, check your owner’s manual to find out the group size of your battery. This is an important piece of information because it will make sure that you buy a battery that fits snugly into the battery tray.

Secondly, consult your owner’s manual to determine the recommended reserve capacity for your battery. The reserve capacity refers to the amount of time your battery can hold enough charge to power your vehicle. The recommended reserve capacity varies by vehicle manufacturer.

The final thing to check about a battery is its cold cranking amps rating, which tells you how able a battery is to start your car in cold weather. If you choose a battery with a cold cranking amps rating that’s too low for your car, you may experience problems with it later on.

They both possess a stylish exterior, a comfortable interior, and the power and performance that make driving fun. Yet, they do have their differences. While there’s no wrong choice between them, we here at Keith Pierson Toyota thought it might be nice to see a side-by-side comparison of the Corolla and Camry to help you make an informed decision.

Exterior Style

The Corolla features a front fascia full of sharp lines, a honeycomb grille, and a bulging hood that give it an aggressive stare. Its sculpted sides, low stance, and 18-inch wheels in various styles reveal an athletic posture. Exterior paint options include 16 colors with a single or two-tone pattern. LED headlights, daytime running lights, and taillights allow you to see and be seen. Special editions like the Apex and Nightshade deliver unique styles.

You get several grille designs on the slightly larger Camry ranging from the honeycomb to the dark gray with chrome accents. A chiseled hood speaks to the strength underneath, and the Camry’s sleek bodyside contours, low center of gravity, and 19-inch wheels give the Camry a bold profile that looks ready for anything. Thirteen available colors with two-tone patterns provide options to match your style.

Interior Comfort

You don’t just sink into the comfortable interior of the Corolla. It envelops you with a luxurious feel. The seats and controls were ergonomically designed and thoughtfully placed to provide a more thrilling drive and riding experience. The mixed-media seats with available SofTex-trimmed bolsters and premium cloth inserts deliver style and comfort.

An available leather-wrapped steering wheel adds a refined feel for the driver. A one-touch power moonroof opens up the already spacious cabin, letting in plenty of light, air, and views for the whole cabin. Other premium features like piano-black accents and soft-touch materials on the doors and dash add elevated style to this compact sedan.

Inside the Camry, Toyota created space for you and your passengers to enjoy, with expansive open views, cavernous space, and a driver-focused cockpit. All your controls are intuitively placed within easy reach, from the steering wheel to the infotainment screen. A 10-inch color head-up display projects critical driving data to the windshield above the steering wheel. You can opt for the cold weather package that adds heated seats, steering wheel, and side-view mirrors to combat those chilly days.

Seating materials range from premium cloth to SofTex to premium leather in various colors and styles. Available ventilated seats for the front and heated seats for the rear add even more comfort.

Powerful Engines

The Corolla has two engines to choose between. First up is a 1.8-liter four-cylinder with dual overhead cams and 16 valves with Valvematic technology. When paired with Toyota’s continuously variable transmission, this powertrain puts out 139 horsepower and 126 pound-feet of torque. Or, you can upgrade to the 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with dual overhead cams and 16 valves with dual variable valve timing with intelligence technology. Toyota pairs this engine with the same transmission to deliver 169 horsepower and 151 pound-feet of torque.

An available hybrid powertrain uses a 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine that mates to an electronically controlled continuously variable transmission. This powertrain gives you 121 horsepower and 105 pound-feet of torque.

The Camry also offers two gas engines and a hybrid powertrain. Camry’s base model comes with a 2.5-liter Dynamic Force four-cylinder engine with dual overhead cams, 16 valves with D-4S fuel injection, and dual variable valve timing technology. Toyota pairs this engine with a continuously variable transmission resulting in 206 horsepower and 186 pound-feet of torque.

A powerful 3.5-liter V-6 engine comes with the upper trims. This engine has dual overhead cams, 24 valves with D-4S dual injection, and variable valve timing technology. Toyota pairs this engine with their Direct Shift 8AT eight-speed automatic transmission to deliver 301 horsepower and 267 pound-feet of torque. The Camry’s hybrid powertrain puts out 208 total system horsepower using the 2.5-liter four-cylinder and an 88-kW electric motor.

In-Vehicle Technology

When it comes to in-vehicle technology, the Corolla and Camry share many of the same capabilities. The infotainment screen on the Corolla measures 8 inches, while the Camry offers a 9-inch touch screen. Both vehicles feature Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support. You can sync your smartphones for hands-free operation, access navigation information, stream your favorite music, and make calls using simple, intuitive voice commands.

They both have an 800-watt, nine-speaker JBL premium audio system standard on the upper trims, but the Camry features a Qi-compatible wireless phone charger that the Corolla only offers as part of a package option. Both vehicles also come equipped with a free trial subscription to SiriusXM satellite radio. They also offer Bluetooth streaming technology and can turn into a 4G LTE Wi-Fi hot spot. Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant functionality allow you to remotely start your Corolla or Camry from the comfort of your living room.

Toyota Driver-Assist Systems

The Corolla operates under the Toyota Safety Sense 2.0, while the Camry uses the next-generation Toyota Safety Sense 2.5 (TSS 2.5) package. They both include pre-collision with pedestrian detection, dynamic radar cruise control, lane departure alert with steering assist, lane tracing assist, and the convenient road sign assist that recognizes and projects common road signs to your driver information display. The Camry offers a blind-spot monitor with a rear cross-path detection system that the Corolla doesn’t.

When comparing the Corolla and Camry, you see so many similarities. Both offer comfortable interiors loaded with the latest tech and safety systems. The Camry runs with the midsize sedans and therefore has more interior space, but the Corolla’s open design doesn’t make you feel cramped. Both offer stylish exteriors with sporty expressions, although the Camry does have a more impressive powertrain.

The 2021 Toyota 4Runner marks another year for this long-running, highly dependable and flexible SUV. It was introduced to the market in 1984, which makes the model almost 40 years old. Toyota has kept the 4Runner current while building its legacy as a model that can take a beating and keep running for a long time. When you’re ready to buy a new 4Runner, or any Toyota for that matter, come to Keith Pierson Toyota to check out what’s available. In the meantime, here’s a look at what the 2021 4Runner has to offer.

The 2021 4Runner: A Veteran SUV That’s Kept Current

Toyota’s introduction of the 4Runner in 1984 represented an entry into the SUV market in an era where SUVs weren’t much different from pickup trucks. The 4Runner was a departure from the rough-riding four-wheel-drive vehicles that weren’t comfortable, handled poorly, and had spartan interiors. The 4Runner offered the desired qualities of an SUV, was smaller and easier to handle, and had four-wheel drive, a powerful engine, and a nicely appointed interior. Toyota has kept updating the 4Runner through the years, but there’s not a lot of change from 2020 to 2021.

For 2021, the body retains its boxy, upright shape and gets a little more lighting in the form of LED low-beam headlights and fog lamps, but not much else has changed. The real changes come in the form of the new Trail special edition models that make the innate capabilities of this on- and off-road vehicle stand out. But don’t count out the base model and available trim levels for the 2021 4Runner. Those who like to get away from it all will find that the 4Runner makes it almost too easy to escape from civilization with its beefy build quality.

Interior and Technological Details of the 2021 Toyota 4Runner

Toyota has equipped the 4Runner with multiple features that make the car comfortable to drive while keeping you connected to the world around you. The entry-level SR5 trim level includes creature comforts such as:

  • Standard air conditioning.
  • Backup camera with projected path.
  • Fabric-trimmed seats with power-adjustable settings for the driver and passenger.
  • Center console storage.
  • Overhead console.
  • Optitron instrument panel with digital and analog displays.
  • Leather-trimmed tilt and telescopic steering wheel with audio and phone controls.
  • 12V DC Auxiliary power outlets.
  • First aid kit.
  • 8-inch touch screen with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Amazon Alexa compatibility.
  • USB ports in front and rear.

The 2021 4Runner offers plenty of storage and holding convenience with 10 cup and bottle holders throughout the interior, an available sliding rear cargo deck with under-floor storage compartment, and a glove box for all of your overflow needs.

A Look at What’s Under the Hood and the Drivetrain

All trim levels of the 2021 Toyota 4Runner feature the same engine: a 4.0L V-6 engine with a five-speed automatic transmission. Toyota has been offering this engine for some years, and some may feel it’s outdated. However, the engine gets decent gas mileage for its size, reaching 16 mpg in cities, 19 mpg on highways, and 17 mpg combined. Toyota is sticking with an older engine design for the 4Runner because of its proven performance and power to overcome obstacles on and off the road.

The drivetrain features a locking rear differential with electronic control to help you maneuver the vehicle on uneven terrain. This is complemented by an available Crawl Control option that automatically modulates the throttle and brakes when the car is in a low-speed setting, enabling you to focus on the road ahead. All trim levels feature active traction control and a part-time four-wheel-drive system. Downhill assist control is available on some trim levels.

Safety Features of the 2021 Toyota 4Runner

Toyota left nothing out when loading the 2021 4Runner with safety features. The eight standard air bags include driver and front passenger TAP (thorax, abdomen, pelvis) protection, knee air bags for the driver and front passenger, and all-row air bags for passengers in the rear. Roll-sensing side curtain air bags deploy in the event that the 4runner is in a rollover accident.

The 4Runner is equipped with Toyota’s Safety Sense P (TSS-P) safety monitoring system. The vehicle alerts the driver to obstacles, pedestrians, and other vehicles through a pre-collision system, a lane departure alert, a dynamic radar cruise control that maintains a distance between you and the car in front of you, and automatic high beams that turn on or off depending on oncoming traffic.

Trim and Package Options for the 2021 Toyota 4Runner

Toyota has seen fit to provide the 2021 4Runner with plenty of trim options and special edition packages that let you buy the 4Runner of your dreams. The SR5 is the base model, but it’s loaded with features that make it feel like much more than an entry-level option. Looking for something different? The special editions add extra flavor that make them more than just the average 4Runner.

  • SR5.
  • SR5 Premium.
  • TRD Off-Road.
  • TRD Off-Road Premium.
  • Limited.
  • Trail Special Edition.
  • Nightshade Special Edition.
  • Venture Special Edition.

Those who like to spend a lot of time exploring the back roads, swamps, and forests in and around Jacksonville are going to like what the Trail Special Edition has to offer. The Trail Special Edition features a matching 40-quart cooler in the cargo area that’s mounted on a sliding tray, 17-inch wheels, all-weather floor mats, rear-wheel or four-wheel drive, and black seats with tan stitching. Can’t get your hands on the Trail Special Edition? The SR5 trim is an equivalent but doesn’t have the wheels, cooler, or mats.

a white toyota rav4 is parked

If you’re shopping for an SUV, you may be wondering whether the 2021 Toyota RAV4 or the 2021 Nissan Rogue is the better option. These two crossovers are highly sought after because of their excellent fuel economy, generous passenger and cargo space, and extensive standard features. However, they’re different in many ways. Find out how the 2021 Toyota RAV4 stacks up against the 2021 Nissan Rogue in the following departments:

Trim Levels and Prices

a white toyota rav4 is parked

Image via Flickr by crash71100

The 2021 Toyota RAV4 is a compact SUV that comes in six trim levels, which include the entry-level LE, the XLE, the XLE Premium, the off-road-ready Adventure and TRD Off-Road, and the range-topping Limited. In addition, it offers five hybrid models. The starting prices of RAV4 trims range from $26,250 for the LE to $37,330 for the Limited Hybrid.

The mid-size 2021 Nissan Rogue is available in only four trims: the base S, the SV, the SL, and the top-of-the-line Platinum. This SUV doesn’t have a hybrid version. The S has a base price of $25,850, while the Platinum costs at least $35,630.

Exterior

Both the Toyota RAV4 and Nissan Rogue are handsomely styled vehicles, but they look markedly different from one another. The Toyota SUV appears sportier and more rugged with its wide stance, muscular curves, and steeply raked front and rear windshields. It also has roof racks and squared-off wheel arches that further accentuate its outdoorsy appeal.

In contrast, the Nissan Rogue features a mostly understated exterior design. Its blocky body and almost-vertical front end give it an imposing appearance, while its muscular curves and stout shoulder line add a touch of ruggedness. It’s instantly recognizable because of its unique two-tiered headlamps.

Power

If you’re looking for an SUV that delivers an energetic driving experience, you’ll be better off choosing the 2021 Toyota RAV4. This crossover is fitted with a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that generates 203 horsepower. Mated to a slick-shifting eight-speed automatic transmission, this engine provides plenty of power for daily driving and quick enough acceleration for overtaking and highway merging.

The Nissan Rogue uses a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine rated at only 181 horsepower. Paired with a continuously variable transmission, this engine is adequately powerful for driving around town, but it may feel underwhelming in some situations. It’s slow to respond when you try to get up to highway speeds quickly.

Handling

When it comes to handling, the Toyota RAV4 and Nissan Rogue are equally impressive. Both SUVs are able to soak up uneven surfaces well to deliver a smooth and comfortable ride. Additionally, they demonstrate great agility and composure around turns and along twisty roads, making them feel somewhat sporty.

However, if you regularly drive away from the pavement, the RAV4 is a better option. This crossover has two off-road-oriented models that come with the necessary equipment for tackling rough terrain, namely the Adventure and the TRD Off-Road.

Fuel Economy

The 2021 Toyota RAV4 delivers slightly better fuel economy than the 2021 Nissan Rogue. It returns 28/35 mpg (city/highway) with front-wheel drive and up to 27/34 mpg with all-wheel drive, making it one of the most efficient compact SUVs. In comparison, the Nissan delivers 27/35 mpg with front-wheel drive and 26/33 mpg with all-wheel drive.

Interior

Both the Toyota RAV4 and Nissan Rogue can seat up to five people in two rows. Regardless of which of the two SUVs you choose, you and your passengers will enjoy supportive and well-cushioned seats with plenty of legroom and headroom.

The cabin of the RAV4 is comparable to that of a luxury vehicle, featuring a modern design, aesthetically pleasing and durable materials, and many soft-touch points. The Rogue also has a nice cabin with an excellent fit and finish.

Cargo Capacity

If you decide to buy the Toyota RAV4, you’ll have 37.6 cubic feet of storage space behind the second-row seats and 69.8 cubic feet behind the front seats. The Nissan Rogue, on the other hand, offers 31.6 cubic feet behind the rear seats and 74.1 cubic feet behind the front seats.

Infotainment Features

The Toyota RAV4 and Nissan Rogue are both equipped with plenty of infotainment features to provide a great in-vehicle experience. Nonetheless, the Toyota has a larger selection of standard tech features, which include the Entune infotainment system with a 7-inch touch-screen display, a USB port, a Wi-Fi hot spot, a six-speaker sound system, Bluetooth, satellite radio, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Amazon Alexa. You can also opt for upgrades such as an 8-inch touch-screen display, four extra USB ports, an 11-speaker JBL audio system, a wireless device charger, and navigation.

Standard infotainment features in the Nissan include an 8-inch touch-screen display, two USB ports, Bluetooth, satellite radio, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, and a four-speaker sound system. This SUV also has a wide range of available tech features, such as a 9-inch touch-screen display, a Wi-Fi hot spot, a wireless device charger, a six-speaker sound system, a 10-speaker Bose audio system, two rear USB ports, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, navigation, and wireless Apple CarPlay.

Safety Features

The 2021 Toyota RAV4 has the same number of standard active safety features as the 2021 Nissan Rogue. However, the Nissan offers more optional safety features. Every model of the RAV4 comes with forward-collision alert, automatic high-beams, pedestrian monitoring, road-sign recognition, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure alert, lane-tracing assistance, lane-keeping assistance, adaptive cruise control, and a rearview camera. Available features include blind-spot detection, rain-sensing windshield wipers, rear cross-traffic warning, a surround-view parking camera system, and parking sensors.

The Rogue helps you stay safe with standard driver-assistance features such as forward-collision alert, forward and reverse automatic emergency braking, pedestrian and cyclist monitoring, automatic high-beams, lane-departure alert, blind-spot detection, rear cross-traffic warning, a rearview camera, rear parking sensors, and driver-drowsiness detection. Additionally, it offers optional features such as a head-up display, traffic-sign recognition, lane-keeping assistance, adaptive cruise control, front parking sensors, a surround-view parking camera system, and Nissan’s ProPilot Assist.

Then try some of their raw oysters served on the half-shell or their garlic cooked oysters as you enjoy a clear view of the ocean. They feature a fresh catch menu and an extensive wine list. Request an outdoor table so you can enjoy your meal with a beautiful view on their expansive wooden deck. In the span of one weekend, you can pile your family in your SUV or minivan and spend time together watching space rockets launch, enjoying delicious cuisine, or biking together along boardwalks or riverside paths. Amelia Island

About 40 miles from Jacksonville, Amelia Island awaits with its pristine beaches and sparkling blue waters. With over 13 miles of sandy beach to explore, Amelia Island is easily accessible from Jacksonville either by boat or road using one of the two bridges available. Amelia Island is known as a barrier island, which protects the mainland from the often harsh weather of the Atlantic Ocean. It also provides a shelter for sea life that typically would not be able to inhabit this area if not for the barrier it provides between the land and water.

Amelia Island is also home to one of the area’s largest maritime forests. This property contains a diverse range of both plants and animals, and can withstand the strong winds and salt spray that accompanies the ocean waters. Due to its unique and rare ecosystem, many conservationists have explored Amelia Island, learning much more about sea life in this area.

When you’re done exploring the beautiful white beaches, swimming in the salty ocean water, or exploring the miles of trails located on the island, visit the downtown area. Featuring both a National Historic District and more than 90 local restaurants and eateries, you will have no trouble enjoying a relaxing weekend getaway at Amelia Island.

Blue Springs State Park

If you’ve always wanted to experience and learn more about manatees, you need to plan a weekend trip to Blue Springs State Park. The warm waters of this park have created a perfect habitat for the manatees that live there. The park began housing manatees in 1970, beginning with 14 of these gentle sea cows. Now, there are 485 living happily at the park.

While visiting the manatees, be sure to also stay for the bird-watching, hiking, and kayaking tours. Blue Springs is home to several birds of prey such as eagles, kingfishers, ospreys, and more. Explore the entire park, watching for these majestic fowl while hiking one of the trails or kayaking through this outdoor playground.

Blue Springs State Park is open every day of the year and is only approximately 100 miles from Jacksonville.

Jekyll Island

Head north of the Florida border to Jekyll Island, located about 90 miles from Jacksonville. Jekyll Island is the southernmost Golden Isle and is one of the most popular vacation spots along Georgia’s coast. At 5,500 acres with 10 miles of shoreline, this island is known for its family-friendly attractions and historical homes. The Millionaire’s Village is located in the historic district and was home to some of America’s most affluent families such as the Cranes, Pulitzers, Vanderbilts, Rockefellers, and Goodyears.

Bring your bikes along for an adventurous ride along the bicycle path. This trail provides a scenic tour of some of the island’s most popular places of interest, like the Georgia Sea Turtle Center or Driftwood Beach. Explore the maritime forest, ride along the beautiful beachside, or make your way to the lively downtown for some shopping and a bite to eat.

Mount Dora

For a relaxing weekend taking in the local scenery or enjoying one of the annual festivals, plan a visit to Mount Dora. About 140 miles from Jacksonville, this charming city in Central Florida boasts antique shops, popular local eateries, yearly events, and a wide range of water activities the whole family will enjoy.

Lake Dora provides plenty of ways to experience the gorgeous warm waters. Rent and drive a high-speed catamaran boat or hop on one of their guided boat tours. Enjoy a luxury paddlewheel cruise or rent a kayak, canoe, or paddleboard with family and friends. Take a walk along the Palm Island Boardwalk and enjoy the beautiful scenery this charming village has to offer.

Mount Dora is proud to host over 30 local events each year that bring in thousands of visitors to this quaint Florida town. Many of the smaller events, such as 5Ks, wine walks, and pet-friendly activities, benefit local non-profits as well as small businesses in the area. A few of their larger festivals include the Arts Festival sponsored by Mount Dora Center for the Arts and the Annual Craft Fair sponsored by Visit Mount Dora.

Cocoa Beach

If your family loves all things space and science, you will definitely want to plan a trip to Cocoa Beach. Kennedy Space Center, the headquarters of NASA, offers several areas that are accessible to the public as well as many exciting events. Take a tour of the facility and the launch pads. Meet with astronauts and view the amazing technology of NASA’s space rockets. When launches are scheduled, they can be viewed right from Cocoa Beach too.

Cocoa Beach is a historic community with more than 50 local boutiques and shops, and several restaurants and diners. It is also home to Ron Jon’s, the largest surf shop in the world, and provides some amazing surfing spots along the famous Cocoa Beach Pier. This popular oceanside city is approximately 165 miles south of Jacksonville.

Daytona International Speedway

For families who absolutely love watching Nascar on the weekends, you can’t go wrong spending a weekend exploring the Daytona International Speedway. Home to the world-famous Daytona 500, this international stadium recently underwent a $400 million renovation. When racecar events are not being held, you can take in a concert, car show, or any of the other several events that are often hosted by the speedway. Daily tours are provided and last about 60 minutes. Daytona International Speedway is less than 100 miles south of Jacksonville.

Keith Pierson Toyota has just given you six ideas for a weekend adventure with family, friends, or simply you and a loved one. Which one of these locations will you visit first? Is there a favorite of yours that we missed? If so, please let us know! We’d be happy to add it to our list.

a person holding a phone up to the computer of a car.

Many car drivers want a quality infotainment system in their vehicle so they and their passengers can enjoy themselves during short trips or long journeys. Most infotainment systems offer you the option of integrating your smartphone, allowing you to perform a wide range of tasks. For example, you can stream music from your phone, book cinema tickets, or reserve a table at your favorite restaurant. In new Toyota cars, the platform that pairs your phone with your vehicle’s infotainment system, so you can do all of these things and more, is called Toyota Entune. Let’s take a look at how it works.

What Is Toyota Entune?

how to use toyota entune

Image via Flickr by khelvan

Entune is Toyota’s innovative infotainment system that allows you to link your phone with the audio system and displays in your vehicle. It performs similar tasks to Apple CarPlay and Android Auto in other vehicles. One of the key ideas behind Entune is that you can be connected with your favorite apps while remaining focused on the road ahead to ensure you and your passengers stay safe.

The Entune interface is available in three versions: audio, Audio Plus, and Premium Audio. All three levels come with App Suite, which is the feature that allows you to integrate your phone with your infotainment system. You can get it across Toyota’s lineup, from the compact Corolla to the Highlander SUV.

What Are the Differences Between Entune’s Three Levels?

The base level of Toyota’s multimedia platform is called Entune Audio. It features an AM/FM radio, CD player, USB 2.0 port, and iPod compatibility. The size of the touch screen ranges from 6.1 to seven inches.

With Entune Audio Plus, your screen increases in size to eight inches. You’ll also get HD Radio, Sirius XM Radio, traffic and weather alerts, and Scout GPS Link. This level of Entune also includes a range of safety and monitoring features that can keep you up-to-date with your vehicle’s performance and put you in touch with help if you require roadside assistance.

The top-level Entune Premium Audio adds dynamic voice recognition, weather and traffic updates via HD Radio, and a Destination Assist Connect feature that can direct you turn-by-turn to your chosen location. Entune Premium Audio also features a nine-inch infotainment screen and a JBL audio system.

How Can You Set up Entune?

The first step to getting started with Entune is to pair your phone via Bluetooth. To do this, you’ll need to download the Entune app and register for the service. Registration requires you to provide an email address and a password, as well as your vehicle identification number (VIN). Once your account is registered, you can select Bluetooth on your Entune display, go to your Bluetooth settings on your phone, and select your vehicle’s Entune system. The on-screen instructions will then walk you through setup.

Once your phone is paired with Entune App Suite, you’ll need to approve Entune to access your contacts and messages. By doing this, you’ll be able to make calls and send messages through your infotainment system.

What Tasks Can You Perform With Entune App Suite?

After Entune App Suite is connected with your phone, you can look forward to performing various tasks using voice commands or the head unit in your vehicle. You can use hands-free commands to accept or make phone calls, allowing you to stay focused on the road ahead while keeping in contact with friends, work colleagues, or family. You can also use the Siri Eyes Free app to give instructions to your phone just by tapping a button on your steering wheel. That means you can send and read text messages while you’re on the go. You can also keep up-to-date with your social media accounts through their respective apps, which can be operated through Entune.

The Pandora app is the ideal option if you want to stream your favorite musician or band. Alternatively, the Bluetooth connectivity used by Entune means that you can effortlessly transfer audio files from your phone to your infotainment system to be played, instead of having to link your phone to your car’s USB port.

Entune also comes equipped with its own wireless hotspot, so you won’t have to worry about the amount of data you’re using on your phone while you’re on the go.

What Are Some Further Benefits of Entune?

If you have a large family, you’ll be happy to hear that Entune can support up to five devices at once. So if you’re on a road trip with the kids, they can link up with your Toyota’s wireless network to play their favorite games or watch a show while you listen to music or a podcast.

One further extremely helpful feature that comes with Entune is Remote Connect. If you’ve left your car and can’t remember if you locked it, Remote Connect allows you to check via your phone and lock your vehicle remotely. You can also use Remote Connect to add restrictions to the use of your vehicle if someone else is driving it, and receive updates on how fast it’s traveling.

Service Connect supplies you with helpful information about your Toyota’s performance and status. It includes data on your mileage, oil levels, and the status of your battery. This information can come in handy for you if you’re concerned about keeping on top of a regular maintenance schedule for your car.

Safety Connect is the Entune feature designed to come to your assistance if you’re ever in an accident or breakdown. It can alert emergency services in case of an accident, or call for roadside assistance if your vehicle is in need of an urgent repair.

We hope that our overview of Toyota’s Entune infotainment system has helped you understand how it works and how useful it can be. If you want to learn more or have any questions about Entune, we’d love to hear from you. Here at Keith Pierson Toyota, our team of auto experts is ready to help you get the most out of your Toyota’s entertainment features. Whether you’re looking to buy a new vehicle with top-of-the-range infotainment features, or you want to check out our selection of used cars, contact us today to learn more.
